    Overview

    Bandarpunch Expedition

Bandarpunch is a lovely mountain area in Uttarakhand’s Western Garhwal region that means “monkey’s tail” in Hindi. At a height of 19,685 feet, these mountains are divided into three groups: Bandarpunch I, Bandarpunch II, and Kalanag. The “white peak” is another name for Bandarpunch II. A massif refers to a group of mountains. This massif can be seen from a number of locations in Garhwal. With a group that included Tenzin Norgay, Maj Gen Harrold Williams was the first person to successfully complete this expedition around 1950. Read More

    Itinerary Details

    Delhi to Dehradun
We will arrive in Delhi early in the morning and visit the IMF office (those who live in Delhi can meet us directly at the office). We'll complete all of the paperwork at the office before meeting with the liaison officer. After all of the formalities are completed, we will board the Nanda Devi Express, which will depart Delhi around 11:55-12:00 a.m. and arrive in Dehradun around 5:00-6:00 a.m.
    Day - 1
    Drive from Dehradun to Uttarkashi
We will board our bikes and drive to Uttarkashi after we arrive in Dehradun. We'll be driving for 8-9 hours, and we'll be eating breakfast on the way to Uttarkashi. When we arrive in Uttarkashi, we will check into our guest rooms. We'll spend the night in a motel in Uttarkashi after we finish our meals.
    Day - 2
Uttarkashi to Sukhi to Forest Camp
On our third day, we'll get up early and drive to Sukhi. The journey is relatively brief, taking between 2.5 and 3 hours at most to complete. Sukhi will serve as the starting point for the journey. Sukhi is a tiny village at an elevation of 8,202 feet with few homes, a small population, and a huge number of apple orchards. September to October is apple harvest season in this area, so you'll see a lot of villagers giving away their apples for free!! Isn't this incredible? You might not find anything as generous as the people of this village in towns, or it might be a very unusual case where you do. We will be ascending very steeply from Sukhi to the Khagi pass, which is at an elevation of 11,220 feet. We'll start our descent to our camp after passing through the Khagi pass. This location is sure to provide fantastic views of the path to the west as well as amazing views of Gangotri 1,2, and 3 as well as Jaonli and Srikanth peaks from the south. We will retire to our woodland camps for the night in order to replenish our energy and begin the day with the same level of vigour.
    Day - 3
Trek to Forest camp towards base camp
We'll have a long trek to the camp on our fourth day. You will first descend to the confluence of the Son Gad and Chaiyaan Gad rivers, then walk alongside the Chaiyaan Gad rivers until you arrive at our base camp. The trek will begin by passing through thick forests and providing mesmerising views of the lush green meadows before crossing the tree line and arriving at our base camp at the end of the Chaiyaan glacier. We may come across some shepherds grazing along the way. This is the allure of trekking in Garhwal, particularly in Bandarpunch, because it provides you with so many vivid experiences to witness and experience on your own.
    Day - 4
    Base camp - Prep Day
The fifth day will be used to acclimate and inspect our climbing equipment. We'll go hiking after breakfast to a certain point on the trail and won't be back until late afternoon. Our base camps will be our home for the night.
    Day - 5
Trek from Base Camp to Camp I then return to Base Camp
We'll be climbing to Camp I and bringing all of our necessary climbing equipment. We'll leave our belongings there on our way back. This will be an excellent acclimatisation activity.
    Day - 6
At Base Camp - Rest Day
We'll spend a day at Base Camp to acclimate and rest a little longer before embarking on the main adventure.
    Day - 7
    Base Camp to Camp I
On our eighth day, we'll return to Camp I, which is at an elevation of 14,599 feet. At Camp I, we'll spend the night.
    Day - 8
    Camp I - Acclimatisation Day
On our ninth day, we'll acclimate and rest at Camp I before continuing our journey.
    Day - 9
    Acclimatization at Camp I
The next morning, we'll hike up to a height of 16,404 feet before returning to Camp I for the night. Staying at Camp I for the night.
    Day - 10
    Camp I to Summit Camp
We will walk to our Summit Camp on the eleventh day, which is at a height of 16,994 feet.
    Day - 11
    Rest Day
On our twelfth day, we will not trek but instead rest at our Summit Camp and check our bags.
    Day - 12
Summit Camp to Summit and back to Summit Camp
Today is the day of celebration! We will ascend to our principal summit, the main Bandarpunch peak, which stands at 20,721 feet, and then descend to our camp.
    Day - 13
    Contingency day
A backup day to ensure that you have the best summit experience possible.
    Day - 14
    Summit to Base Camp
Finally, on the fifteenth day, we'll start our descent from summit camp to base camp.
    Day - 15
    Base Camp to Forest Camp
We'll start the day with a hearty breakfast. We'll continue our descent from Base Camp to Forest Camp after breakfast.
