FAQ's

Yes, absolutely. Dayara Bugyal is one of the safest and most beginner-friendly high-altitude treks in India. The trails feature gentle slopes and well-marked paths through forests and meadows. Children (above 7–8 years) and first-time trekkers can complete this trek comfortably with basic physical fitness.

Dayara Bugyal is a year-round trek, but the experience changes by season:

  • Winter (December to March): Ideal for snow trekking, frozen lakes, and white-carpeted meadows.

  • Spring & Summer (April to June): Perfect for lush green meadows, blooming wildflowers, and pleasant weather.

  • Autumn (September to November): Best for clear skies, crisp mountain air, and sharp views of peak ranges.

The trek is rated Easy to Moderate. The total trek distance is approximately 20 km covered over 4 days, with the highest point at Bakaria Top (11,827 ft / 3,605 m). The daily walking distance is manageable (around 4 to 5 km per day).

Raithal village serves as the base camp for the trek. It is located about 185 km from Dehradun (approx. 7–8 hours drive). You can easily reach Dehradun via train, flight, or bus from Delhi/NCR, and then take a direct cab or shared transport via Mussoorie and Uttarkashi to Raithal.

  • Mobile Network: You will get decent network connectivity (BSI / Airtel / Jio) at the base village Raithal. However, signal coverage drops significantly or becomes non-existent as you trek higher towards Gui Campsite and Dayara Bugyal.

  • ATMs: The last functional ATMs are located in Uttarkashi or Bhatwari. It is strictly recommended to withdraw necessary cash before leaving Dehradun or Uttarkashi.
