    Overview

    Black Peak Expedition

Black Summit, at 6387 meters/20960 feet, is the highest peak in the Saraswati mountain range near Ruinsara Valley in Uttarakhand’s Garhwal Himalayas. Because the top portion of the peak resembles a Black Cobra, Black Peak is known as “Kalanag” in the local dialect. It is the highest and most prominent peak in the Bandarpunch massif. The climb to the summit of Black Peak is demanding and technical, with a slow ascent from the southern side ultimately leading to a very steep summit climb with a near 70-degree incline and a 75-foot ice wall. Only professional climbers choose it for a once-in-a-lifetime adventure. Read More

We set up camp for the night and prepare for the next day's summit attempt on Black Peak. Retire early because the summit bid will begin shortly after midnight.
    Day - 9
Summit camp to Summit attempt (6387M) and back to base camp.
We will begin at 02:00 a.m., when the snow is still hard, with the goal of reaching the summit in 7-8 hours. Fixing a rope to negotiate a 75-100 foot vertical wall of slope makes the summit ascent incredibly technical and difficult. Due to the steepness of the slope, the lead climber must open and solve the path leading to the ridgeline. Finally, you get at the top. Black Peak (Kalanag) has a flat summit. We'll start descending to your summit camp, Camp 1, and, if possible, your base camp later.
