Itinerary Details

McLeod Ganj to Triund
Your journey begins from McLeod Ganj, a popular hill station near Dharamshala. After a short drive or walk to Dharamkot or Gallu Devi Temple, the trek officially starts. The trail gradually ascends through dense forests of oak, pine, and rhododendron, offering a refreshing and scenic start. The trek to Triund is around 8–9 kilometers and usually takes 4–6 hours depending on your pace. Along the way, you will find small cafés and rest points where you can relax and enjoy refreshments. The final stretch involves a series of steep turns, often called the “22 curves.” By afternoon or evening, you will reach Triund, a beautiful ridge offering panoramic views of the Dhauladhar mountains on one side and the Kangra Valley on the other. Set up your camp here and enjoy a peaceful night under the stars.
Day - 1
Triund to Lahesh Cave
Start your day early and prepare for a more challenging trek. The route from Triund to Lahesh Cave is steeper and more rugged compared to Day 1. The trail gradually leaves the forest behind and enters rocky terrain with alpine landscapes. This stretch is approximately 5–6 kilometers and can take around 4–5 hours to complete. As you gain altitude, the air becomes thinner, and the surroundings become more dramatic with towering peaks and open mountain views.Lahesh Cave serves as a natural shelter and a popular camping spot for trekkers heading to Indrahar Pass. Spend the night here, acclimatize to the higher altitude, and prepare for the summit push the next day.
Day - 2
Lahesh Cave to Indrahar Pass
Day 3 is the most challenging and rewarding part of the trek. Start early in the morning to reach Indrahar Pass before weather conditions change. The trail from Lahesh Cave to the pass is steep, rocky, and requires careful navigation. This section involves crossing boulder fields and narrow paths, and may also include snow patches depending on the season. It usually takes 3–4 hours to reach the pass.At the top, you will be rewarded with breathtaking panoramic views of the Dhauladhar and Pir Panjal ranges. Spend some time at the pass, take photos, and enjoy the sense of achievement. After that, descend back to Lahesh Cave or Triund depending on your pace and plan. Overnight stay will be at Lahesh Cave or Triund.
Day - 2
Return to McLeod Ganj
On the final day, begin your descent back towards McLeod Ganj. If you stayed at Lahesh Cave, you will first descend to Triund and then continue further down. The return trek is easier as it is mostly downhill, but you should still be cautious on steep sections. Enjoy the scenic beauty one last time as you make your way back through forests and mountain trails.By afternoon, you will reach McLeod Ganj, marking the end of your trekking adventure.
