Overview

Kedartal Trek

The Kedartal trek is for adventure seekers. It is for trekkers who have completed a number of Himalayan treks and want to push themselves further. It’s a tough trek that rewards you with a genuinely magical experience in exchange for your efforts.

The trail leads to the glacial Kedartal lake, which is nestled in a crater of massive mountains. In this cauldron, famous mountains from our country rise in front of you: Mt Thalaysagar, Mt Bhrigupanth, Manda Parvat, Mt Jogin, and Mt Gangotri. [read more] You’ll be sleeping in the shadow of Mt Thalaysagar and Mt Bhrigupanth.  Kedartal (also known as Shiva’s Lake) is a glacial lake in the Garhwal region of India, at an elevation of 4,750 metres (15,580 feet). The lake is fed by snowfall from Thalay Sagar, Meru, Bhrigupanth, and other nearby peaks, and is the source of Kedar Ganga, which is considered Shiva’s contribution to Bhagirathi in Hindu mythology (a source-stream of the Ganges). Kedartal is a popular trekking destination located 17 kilometres from Gangotri. [/read]

Itinerary Details

Dehradun to Gangotri
Our daring journey to the glacial lake, surrounded by lofty mountains and a lush climate, begins in Dehradun. We'll drive from Dehradun to Gangotri, the Kedartal trek's base camp, taking in the scenery as we pass through the many valleys carved out by the mighty Bhagirathi River. Say you'll be at Gangotri overnight.
Day - 1
Acclimatisation at Gangotri
We would rest for the whole day in order to acclimate to the weather. You can also take a stroll through the holy town of ‘Gangotri,' which is dedicated to Goddess Ganga. Gangotri is one of the four pilgrimage sites in the Chota Char Dham pilgrimage circuit. It is the source of the River Ganges and the seat of the deity Ganga. The Himalayan ranges provide breathtaking views. The Gangotri shrine attracts a large number of pilgrims each year. When we arrive in Gangotri, we will have a delicious hot dinner and spend the night there.
Day - 2
Gangotri to Bhoj Karak
We will start trekking towards Bhoj Karak, which is situated at a distance of around 8 kilometres, after waking up to a cool new morning. Trekking through lush green valleys, past pine and deodar forests, and past the cascading Kedar Ganga will be a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Camps may be used for overnight stays.
Day - 3
Bhoj Karak to Kedar Kharak
Today is the fourth day of our adventure, and we're getting ready to trek to Kedar Kharak, which is about 4-5 kilometres from Bhoj Karak. Kedar Kharak provides a spectacular view of snow-capped peaks and leads you through a birch forest to the majestic Bhrigupanth peak. Camps may be used for overnight stays.
Day - 4
Kedar Kharak to Kedartal to Kedar Kharak
After breakfast, we will begin our journey to Kedartal, the Glacial Lake. Today's walking trail on the Kedartal trek is a little strenuous, but it'll be worth it because it provides an unrivalled view of the hazy sapphire Kedartal with the lofty Thalay Sagar peak in the background. We'll return to Kedar Kharak after taking in the sights. The camps will be our home for the weekend.
Day - 5
Kedar Karak to Gangotri
Get up early today to capture and view the amazing sunrise in the Himalayas. It appears as if the sun kisses the snow-covered mountains and wakes them up to a bright new morning, scattering its golden glitter across the white snow, lush green valleys, and rivers. It will take about 8 kilometres to walk from Kedar Kharak to Gangotri. After capturing all of these memories, we will return to Gangotri for an overnight stay.
