The trail is moderately undulating, but you’ll be pleasantly shocked by the change in scenery around every turn. The state is renowned for its pristine natural beauty, and the hike to Rupin Pass will take you through some of the most beautiful scenery in the area. Meandering rivers, thick forests, and snow-capped mountain ranges provide a visual feast. [read more]

The Rupin Pass trekking tour begins in the Uttarakhand town of Dhaula. From here, make your way to Sewa village, where you’ll find a Kinnauri-style temple. This enthrallingly majestic temple represents the ethnicity of the local tribe. To get to the Rupin Valley camp, pass through a few more lovely villages like Saruwas thatch and Jakha. Take a few pictures of the beautiful waterfall that can be found here. Continue on to Rati Pheri before beginning the final ascent to the pass. From the summit, you’ll be mesmerised by the views of hanging glaciers and the Kinnaur Kailash Mountain Range.[/read]

Itinerary Details

Arrival in Dehradun | Dehradun to Dhaula
You have the option of going to Dhaula or taking a bus from Dehradun to Naitwar if you arrive in Dehradun by train from Delhi. Take a shared Jeep ride to Dhaula village once you've arrived. Enjoy an overnight stay at the campsite when you arrive in the village.
Day - 1
Dhaula to Sewa (7 KM | 6300 ft | 7 hours)
The exciting Rupin pass trek begins today from a location just outside of Dhaula. A few human villages will be visible along the trail, and after a while, the pristine Rupin River will be visible flowing through a canyon about 500 feet below. The journey continues as you walk along the valley's left side, passing by fragrant apple and apricot trees. Continue walking until you come across a store selling refreshments along the way. Here you can enjoy a steaming cup of tea with some light snacks. This rest will allow you to continue on with the Rupin pass trekking tour. The tour concludes in Sewa, a village located a short distance above the Rupin River's bed. When you arrive in Sewa, you'll notice a small temple that embodies Kinnauri culture and beliefs. Continue on the trail until you hear the stream's rippling sounds.
Day - 2
Sewa to Jhaka (9 KM | 8700 ft | 7 hours)
Walk along the crop fields as we reach the lush woodland in the morning. As you walk through the lush woodland, you'll come to a wooden bridge known as "No Man's Place" because it belongs to no state. Continue walking to Kwar after reaching Gosangu. After crossing a river on the bridge, take the track that leads up to the village. Ascend to Kwar and join the quickly climbing trail that leads to Jiksun village. As you tackle the challenging ascent to Jiksun, the trail heads along the right bank of the river. After another one-hour walk, you'll arrive at Jhaka Village, where you'll be camping for the night.
Day - 3
Jhaka to Saruwas Thatch (6 KM | 11150 ft | 5 hours)
Resuming your Rupin Pass trek, descend along the trail, which becomes more difficult and steep as it approaches a tributary of the main river. Admire the stunning views as you travel through the woodland to a lovely snowfield. Following the snow bridge will lead you to another Rhododendron woodland. Another few kilometres of walking will get you to the Saruwas Thatch campsite. Spend the night admiring the breathtaking views of the Rupin waterfall from your campsite.
Day - 4
Saruwas Thatch to Dhanderas Thatch (5 KMS| 11680 ft | 4 hours)
Continue your journey to Rupin Pass by walking through picturesque maple and blue pine woodland in the morning. After a while of walking, you'll notice that you're approaching a river. To get to the left side of the valley from the right side, cross the bridge. Maple forests give way to silver birch and rhododendron forests, which eventually give way to alpine meadows. The vibrant colours of the wild flowers and blue poppies come alive during the blooming seasons, transforming the meadow into something enchantingly beautiful. Arrive at the campsite for a night's journey.
Day - 5
Dhanderas Thatch to Upper Waterfall camp (13120 ft | 2-3 hours)
Begin walking to the Upper Waterfall camp after acclimating at Dhanderas. To reach a dense snow trail, cross patches of snow and fields of marigold flowers. After a short but steep ascent, you'll arrive at your campsite, where you can unwind for the night.
Day - 6
Upper water fall to Rupin Pass to Ronti Gad (10 KM | 15250 ft | 11 hours)
As you progress along a trail that is narrower in width and has a steep angle of climb, the Rupin Pass trekking tour becomes a little more difficult. Keep moving forward with the expedition while passing through dangerous boulders. If there is snow on the ground, use a rope for support. Enjoy the amazing views of the Kinnaur Kailash Range of the Himalayas from the pass's summit. Finally, descend to alpine meadows to set up camp for an overnight stay at Ronti Gad.
Day - 7
Ronti Gad to Sangla Via Sangla Kanda. Overnight drive to Shimla (12 KM | 8800 ft | 6 hours)
While doing so, take in the breathtaking views of the Sangla Valley. As the trail descends towards Sangla, it becomes steeper, so go with caution and at a comfortable pace. Hike downhill for about an hour and a half, and you'll drop more than 1500 ft in elevation. When you reach Sangla, the Rupin Pass journey is over. Once you've arrived, you'll notice that the town has outstanding connections to other towns. Stay in Sangla and choose from a variety of hotel and bed and breakfast options, or travel to Shimla by bus.
Day - 8
