Popularly known as the “Valley of Gods,” Har Ki Dun offers a perfect blend of natural beauty, mythology, and adventure, making it an ideal choice for both beginners and experienced trekkers.
Unlike many high-altitude treks that focus on reaching a summit or pass, the Har Ki Dun Trek is all about exploring a beautiful cradle-shaped valley that unfolds gradually with every step. The trail follows the Supin River and passes through remote villages like Osla and Seema, giving trekkers a chance to experience authentic Himalayan culture along with stunning landscapes
Why Har Ki Dun Trek is Famous?

History of Har Ki Dun Trek
Har Ki Dun Valley is believed to have a deep connection with the ancient Indian epic, the Mahabharata. Surrounded by beautiful forests, rivers, and majestic Himalayan peaks, Har Ki Dun has long been an important route for shepherds and traders. Today, it is famous not only for its natural beauty but also for its spiritual and historical significance in Uttarakhand.
Mythological Story of Pandavas in Har Ki Dun Trek
According to Hindu mythology, Har Ki Dun Valley is closely connected to the journey of the Pandavas from the Mahabharata. It is believed that after the Kurukshetra war, the Pandavas and Draupadi began their final journey to heaven through the Himalayas, known as the “Swargarohini Yatra.” The trail passing through Har Ki Dun is said to be one of the ancient routes they followed on their path to salvation.
Local villagers believe that the majestic Swargarohini Peak visible from the valley represents the stairway to heaven.
